How to get updated on the rapid AI development if you feel a bit behind

How to get updated on the rapid AI development if you feel a bit behind

With the rapid development of AI, you, like everyone else with a regular job, have a hard time " catching up." This article, written by Erik Bolinder, the CEO of Klick Data and the architect of the K3 platform, is designed to engage you in learning more based on the 1,300 videos he has consumed. It is designed to get you started at the top of the pile of useful information, for you to get updated more quickly, and to make you aware of the avalanche and tsunami that are to hit our society.

Erik Bolinder calls himself an AI evangelist and is very optimistic on the scale of optimist versus pessimist. Learning is at the base of his core, and over his over three-decade career, he has been passionate about learning and worked at the crossroads of pedagogy and technology.

In a recent interview at the Swedish YouTube channel Hotspot, Erik Bolinder viewed and discussed his view on AI development today and urged Swedish politicians to put AI at the top of the agenda ahead of the upcoming election in 2026. He shared his view with the Swedish Commission on AI (sv. Svenska AI-kommissionen), which has made a report (sv. AI kommissionens Färdväg för Sverige) on the future. Erik Bolinder has also created a similar report on Saudi Arabia's AI vision that is closely linked with the Saudi authorities.

Here are some of the links Erik Bolinder recommends viewing. Note that this list was made in mid-May 2025, and rapid development might eventually overrun some links in terms of being updated. But that's fully normal. That's how fast AI development is, and that's why it is so important to get updated.

1. The power of AI in society and the implications. "The Oracle"

Yuval Noah Harari: AI and the future of humanity | Frontiers Forum Live 2023

If you need to understand the power of AI for society, there are over 1000 interesting talks, discussions, and panel fireside chats.

If I had to choose one that made the most impression on me, I would start with Yaval Harai's talk in 2023. It's just a really great understanding of AI, without knowing exactly where we are in the development.

Key quote: (18:00) : Previous tools like printing presses or radios or televisions they helped to spread the cultural ideas and Creations of humans but they could never create Something New by themselves a printing press cannot create a new book it's always done by a human AI is fundamentally different from printing presses from radios from every previous invention in history because it can create completely new ideas it can create a new culture and the big question is what will it be like to experience reality through a prism produced by a nonhuman intelligence by an alien intelligence now at first in the first few years AI will probably largely imitate the prototypes the human prototypes that fed it in its infancy but with each passing year AI culture will boldly go where no human has gone before so for thousands of years we humans basically lived inside the dreams and fantasies of other humans we have worshiped Gods we pursued ideals of beauty we dedicated Our Lives to causes that originated in the imagination of some human poet or Prophet or politician soon we might find ourselves"

2. The power of AI in Education

What is the Future of Education? Freakonomics’ Steve Levitt & Google Chief Technologist Ben Gomes

Key quote: (6:05) " Because if you told me suddenly I had a grant for, you know, $17 billion that would put, you know,a tutor, a full-time tutor for every kid, I would take it in a second. How is there not a stampede to get kids equipped with those tools? But I don't think there is. - AI can act as a tutor, but there is, I also believe there is the role of the human in motivating. And how people interact with the technology, the teacher, the student, and so on, is being evolved. " Steve Levitt

3. AI or die.

Achieve Peak Creativity: Merging Flow States with AI Technology w/ Steven Kotler | EP #151

There is no turning back from the AI World. Some people argue it will be a K-economy. It's either up and prospering or down and be dissatisfied and have to face despair. It's AI or die. So, no matter the fear or philosophical discussion on a macro level, you need to get in there and start learning. It's like going to the gym. You better be proactive, or else you are going down. Basically, you can view any video from Peter Diamantis YouTube channel, and you will never be disappointed. (like coffee in the morning)

4. Google is not going to be the new Kodak.

I/O '25 in under 10 minutes

Google's mindset of becoming the best and leading actor in the AI field is wild. In 2023 and 2024, many believed Google was "doomed" since the Search with ad business was under attack when people started prompting. But Google understood they had to adapt to AI or die. The first attempts to chase OpenAI were a bit awkward, with premature press conferences displaying weak solutions and images creating soldiers from Germany during World War II as Asians and Blacks. But between 2024 and 2025, the tokens processed at Google jumped a staggering 50X. FIFTY TIMES GROWTH! Google is definitely in the lead when it comes to AI. And we can look in the mirror to see what happened when Chrome entered the web browser market, Gmail entered the overcrowded email market, and so on. The I/O conference in May is a yearly event that will show us what will happen for many years to come. I recommend seeing the long ones and breaking down to see third-party videos on all the Google announcements to understand what we are now in May 2025.

5. The AI revolution needs a massive amount of energy, which will require nuclear energy on a colossal scale

The AI Revolution Is Underhyped | Eric Schmidt | TED

Due to the political situation, the USA and Sweden are currently building ZERO (0) nuclear power plants. Erik Bolinder thinks Sweden would be on top of the World if Sweden rebuilt the best energy system, consisting of 12 atomic plants (the horrific wind and solar power mania broke that down under the name of "climate change"), by building 40 nuclear plants. Eric Schmidt agrees that the AI Revolution will need 99% of the energy in the future, compared to 3% today. And yes, AI Revolution is underhyped. If you are vaguely interested in understanding the tsunami coming, Watch this as 1 million have in one week since launch mid-May.

Key quote: (4:04): "There's one calculation, and I testified on this this week in Congress, that we need another 90 gigawatts of power in America. My answer, by the way, is, think Canada, right? Nice people, full of hydroelectric power. But that's apparently not the political mood right now. Sorry. So 90 gigawatts is 90 nuclear power plants in America. Not happening. We're building zero, right? How are we going to get all that power? This is a major, major national issue. "

6. Sell the Shovels

Matt Wolfe Thinks These 9 AI Tools Are Better Than ChatGPT… (#145)

Matt Wolfe is a favorite of mine for a long time on YouTube, and the best way I found is to listen to his weekly update on the news in the AI space on Fridays. It gives you an excellent update on the development. In this interview, he discusses (between 11:30 and 17:30) where to invest your money in the AI space, and despite this video being in this context very old from 2023, he is right on the spot on Nvidia and Microsoft, and discusses Open Source and Proprietary Source. (Closed) ; This gives you no matter time you read this a very good overview on how to think from an invesor, buyer and developer perspective.

Key quote: (11:58): "When it comes to that kind of stuff you know I I tend to think that the best place to be is the you know the shovel sellers right like the the videos the amds the the companies that are benefiting no matter where like what tools you're using I think Microsoft has a a really really smart plan right what you just mentioned perplexity is using llama 2 which is meta's platform well meta just partnered with Microsoft to release this llama 2 Platform right well Microsoft also is partnered with openai on chat GPT so you look at that and they're like okay didn't they just partner with two competing projects well one's closed source with chat GPT one's open source with llama well the common denominator between those two is they're both going to be using uh Microsoft as your servers right so Microsoft is going to get the benefit of people using the open source the closed Source because it's all going to be on the azure our servers right and then Nvidia right Nvidia makes all of the gpus all of the graphic cards all of the pretty much all of these Cloud compute systems are using Nvidia GPU so Nvidia is going to really benefit."

Links related to the Hotspot interview:

In a one-hour interview with the Swedish YouTube channel Hotspot, Erik Bolinder discusses the vastly optimistic future of AI and the need for politicians to put AI higher up on the agenda than today.  The gllom and doom scenario has made the Swede

Christer Gardells take on Bitcoin (in Swedish) that Erik Bolinder is discussing is 180 degrees wrong.

Final thoughts

I think you should view AI as going to the gym. You need to train yourself regularly, and if you can't do it every day for 15 minutes, you need to schedule it at least 1-2 times a week. And why not combine the two by listening to an AI development podcast or YouTube while you are at the gym or taking a walk?

Take care with the vast opportunities that AI provides us for a prosperous future!

Love, Erik Bolinder
